The 'A' from Agunnaryd

The "A" in IKEA refers to Ingvar Kamprad Elmtaryd Agunnaryd. IKEA is the well-known Swedish retail company that sells self-assembly furniture and home accessories. The name is an acronym formed from the initials of the founder's name, Ingvar Kamprad, and the first letters of the farm and village where he grew up, Elmtaryd and Agunnaryd, respectively. Ingvar Kamprad founded IKEA in 1943, and the company has since become one of the world's largest furniture retailers.
Ingvar grew up in the outskirts of the village Agunnaryd and many of the locals knew him and can tell stories about that time.
Agundaborg is located in the same village and when you go fishing, you fish in the same waters as Ingvar once did!
